what do you guys think about the fluval fx6 canister ? i might go with that for my 200 gallon cichlid tank

I run one along with a big trickle filter and a sunsun 403b on my 180. I wouldn't be able to run it as my only filter, I don't think it would keep up with the bio load

do you have a lot of fish in it ? i would have about 4 10inch cichlids thats all

I have a lot more than that, plus some poopy plecos

I have a fairly heavily stocked 125 running on a single fx6 and I feel like if it was more lightly stocked it would be great but right now not really enough, so for a 200g I wouldn't use it alone. as far as the filter itself I love it, super easy maintenance, the purge valve/hole at the bottom is awesome during w/c's and people have done diy auto water changer things with that feature. it is also self priming which is awesome, I came from using the other fluvals with the like plunger bit and this is waaaaaay easier. For the size of it pretty quiet. con is that when I close my hoses ive noticed a small leak at the bottom by the pump, but I haven't totally investigated that yet because its only some times and isn't a real big concern at this point. I'd give it a 8.5/10 filter stars

I run one on my 125, I love the filter. Never had any issues with it. But I also run two aquaclear 110s as well. You never know with a 200g tank you may want to add more in the future. I'd say throw a few aquaclears along with that FX-6 and you'd be set.

how wide is the filter like exactly ? like how wide does your stant need to be for it to fit in ?

It's larger than a 5 gallon bucket around. The trays barely fit into a bucket when I do a filter cleaning.

It is not a bad filter, and actually it is a good filter, as I have the FX5. But I would definitely take the Eheim 2262 over the FX6 any day.
