FYI, $17 aquatop canister

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have heard horror stories, but I have also heard of most people being very satisfied with this canister. I hope everyone that got one has good luck with it.

Hating just a lil huh? I really like. Some of the tubing could be thicker but the canister itself it built nice. I like it more than my cascade and my small eheim

Did u ever think there maybe cheap cuz there cheap? I heard the plastic literally cracks for no reason and all the horror stories of leaking out? No thx fx5 or ehiem for me.

I wouldn't even buy one for 17$ lol

I've owned every major brand of canister out there. Currently I'm running an FX5 and an Eheim 2217. These aquatops are just as nice as anything on the market IMO.

I have one, personally I dont like it, worked great but every know and then I would catch it not flowing pump still running but water just pumping up and down a fewminchesmin the outlet tube. would work again if unplugged and replugged, but water gets stagnent just sitting if I didnt notice for a while. Know its just sitting and I wont use it.

The filter intake has a funky "tee" with a cap on it that lies under the water line in the tank. I didn't see anything about it in the manual. Anyone know the purpose of this? I assume the purpose of it is for the filter to get some "surface" type debris in addition to the stuff at the bottom.

Also, to those who thought this was not a pricing error, that is not the case. I placed an order for two of them after it had already sold out but the price remained the same (i.e. out of stock). Amazon emailed me saying it was a pricing error and they would honor the price, but only for one unit. They adjusted the qty to 1 and shipped it out as soon as they got more in stock. Just thought I'd set the record straight on that.

Those Toms surface skimmers plumb right into this port. It was the best $10 I've spent.
