An island somewhere......
FYI... Petco is having their $1.00 per gallon sale. Just picked up two 40g. breeders tonight! Bummer is they charge you tax based on the original price ($109) and not the sale price. These DO NOT have lids or lights, just bare tanks. I think it's nationwide but I bought mine in Long Beach, CA.

**This was mentioned by another forum member in another WTB ad, I just thought I'd publish for all to see**

that's how commiefornia is. it's really bad with cell phones. you know how you get a cell phone on the 2-year contract price for like $199? well in this idiotic state you get charged sales tax on the full retail price, in my case, $599 :wall:

haha yup! here's the notice from the Board of Equalization. it talks about wireless devices, but if Petco's doing it, i'm sure they know of some loophole that allows them to legally charge tax on the full retail price. i doubt theyd be doing it fraudulently

and i think they get away with it by not calling it a "sale" price. instead, they classify it as an "instant rebate". voila! sales tax on the full amount. how do you think they make up for the costs?

sales tax gets remitted to the state based off of total sales for a period, not individual sales. so theyre pocketing the extra sales tax they collect during this period. genius.

You are smarter than you look and more than I give you credit for there J. Hey, it's either California or Arizona and WE WOULD BOTH BE SCREWED if we moved to AZ! (more so you though) :lock:
