Gachua tankmate recommendations?

Believe it or not but my channa gachua is getting along with my 7 angels in a 100gallon tank. The angels will peck at the channa gachua when he swims through the pack of angels. As soon as the channa gachua turn like he's going to attack the angels swim away. :grinno:

get a fish that is fast and hardy like some barbs...they school together and you wont worry about them eating your channa..polypterus would just share the bottom of the tank with the SH

Channa Gachua small but mean!!

I've had one for two years and to start off with he was in with my 450 litre SA/CA Cichlids. Everything was fine, he'd sit on the bottom looking around at the other fish, he'd go nuts when I came to sit by the tank during feeding and would only eat chicken. he had no interest in any other kind of food. Wouldn't touch the cichlid frozen mix and a big noway to pellets.

Tank had plenty of territorial caves, bogwood and plants but he was always quite timid with some of the Cichlids.

Until, I had a breeding pair of Convicts, 6" Male and 3" female. Convicts as only convicts do were going nuts as usual protecting their fry. Both male and female would be striking my other fish. I was sat in front of the tank and I could see my gachua sat in a cave just peeping out looking at the mayhem going on. The female convict had just striked my juvie GT when BAM! my Gachua striked and all that was left of the female was her tail poking out of my snakeheads mouth.

Now this guy was at that time only about 6" long and had never shown any aggression towards any other fish. 48 hours later 5 fish had disappeared. Male convict GONE! 2 mature 4" Rams GONE! Male 3" GT GONE! Female 3" RT GONE.

Snakehead had turned into a psycho! COOL

My Gachua is now in a 45g on his own, he is the meanest fish I've got, he still loves his chicken.

If you want to be sure that other fish can stand up to snakeheads the problem you will have is these fish also have the potential to kill it!
