the fish is far from being endangered...... this rumor was actually started by the original collector in myanmar....
infact they breed quite prolifically......

Really? I know this was posted a while ago, and they have since found other areas where they are plentyful.

Someone I know bought some and had them breed unintentionally repeatedly. He's not set up to raise many of them unfortunately, but I see them at one of the lfs every so often anywyas.

Myanmar has all the cool stuff. Unfortunately the region isn't very stable. Glad to know they found more wild populations before greed wiped it out.

i believe that a decent amount of the ones in the trade are now captive bred because after that whole endangered rumor started people responded very well and everyone that i talked to decided not to purchase wild speciemens and the ones that had them started breeding theirs.

Oh crud, I hope they're not going into extinction, I just bought some from **************** for my 20 gallon, I thought they were a bit expensive!

no they're not going to go extinct, if you'd read the rest of the thread you'd know that, the reason they were probably expensive was mainly because the retailer can sell them for that price.

Whoa :chillpill:, I did read the entire thread, and nobody definitively
said one way or another if they were threatened and I can't find conclusive evidence online either so no need to be condesending, thanx.
