Game fish are illegal

I can tell you this. They may just live a longer happier safer life :) . Think about it. They have plenty of room and no natural enemies as long as the tank owner makes damn sure everything continues to work properly.
Even with that said I still don't agree with it, but I do it anyway lol

my state doesn't have size limits on most game fish but it is illegal to take live fish away from a water body so keeping native is tough for me

i dont believe in keeping wild caught natives in a fish tank for the rest of their lives... they came from this huge lake with many more fish of their species and just get thrown in a tiny tank away from everything they are accustomed to.. i dont care how big your tank is... compared to a lake its nothing..

sry to tell ya but alot of fish i see at lfs are wild caught. just not here. sodo you keep only cb fish? thats cool if u do. it wouldnt surprize me if that aro in ur avatar was wild caught. and even if its not and its fram raised the parents had to of come from wild. i agree with u tho,, the loss of habitat for fish is only growing. so there should be laws to regulate or make sure u have right size tank to house it. i have heard that there is one or two fish that are not found in wild or almost gone but thannks to hobbyest there is a ton of them still around do to people breeding them and starting farms. thats just what i heard, so dont quote me lol

well no.. but these fish are imported and are sent to the LFS so in a sense they are doomed for life... i could try and do my part by not keeping fish... but its too much fun...

whereas the wild fish that we catch still have a chance to live nice healthy lives in huge bodies of water.. and i just like to do my part to help the fish be happier/more comfortable. therefore, i dont keep wild fish that i catch myself, only keep fish that are already doomed :D

ya im planning on doing my part as well and geting some nice rays and breeding them. but ya the wild fish that are imported are netted or caught and then sent, it would be like us catching them and then shipping them, id rather keep for it would have a better chance. when u say but these fish are imported. where did u think they got them from, it would be like u catching fish and shipping to japan. so there is no diffrence in ur fish if its wild than anyone else keeping a wild fish from here. more than likely the fish u get that are imported and are wild, are netted from there lakes and rivers and then shipped, so same thing if u went out and caught a fish and put in ur tank. now farm raised fish is a different story lol

no.. but if the pet store had them and i wanted to keep that kind of fish...

its not a fear of disease or anything that stops me.. its just my morals.. like my self conscious of directly dooming a fish..
