I'd still try a bichir...but I love bichirs Could try an African butterfly fish (Pantodon buchholzi is the scientific name I think) they're pretty cool and exclusively a surface fish. Not sure how you feel about cichlids but a group of festivums would work with your stock, very peaceful cichlids and are a bit more surface-oriented than most cichlids.

ah. one of my other tanks is going to be full of mbuna so i think im set on cichlids. i could replace the bala's with some bichir? would they get along with pictus cats?

what about a jardini arowana to go with my pictus cats and bgk? id replace the apollo sharks with one of those.
