lol

i was waiting for the tank size question.

he's currently in a 240gl (8X1.5X2.5) and will end up in a 540gl (10X2.5X3) with 150gl sump. think that will do until i have him in a pond in the next 2-3 years?

by two years the gar can easily reach 3' or more...which is already too large for the width of that tank. i would be prepared with a pond ready to go sometime midway through 1.5 years--

my florida took almost a month before it accepted food. be patient and offer food to him regularly. he will eventually take it.

a month? wow. i've never had a fish go that long without eating. that would give me gray hairs...lol

it drove me crazy. i havent had a gar do that since though. i'm just saying it can happen. give him time.

i've got plans for what i want to do when i build my tank/pond.

i'm either going to do something like johnptc and build a 5000gl tank in my garage or install a pre-made 4000gl tank in the ground. the pond will be a figure 8 and the johnptc-style tank will be a rectangle. which footprint would be most beneficial for a gator gar?

my gar wont eat in front of me, i just put a little piece of hot dog and he was chewing on it but spit it out. there are bass but they eat a lot of the feeders and the 5 or so left dissapeared during the night...hes about 9in in a 90G

Dont they like 9'.:WTF:

sorry i ment to say don't they get like 9'.
