Gar ID game!

trop gar, i only know cause ive spent so much time staring at pics. as for the pic, im guessing that it's anal fin is attatched to the caudal peduncle?

btw it's 1 in the morning, im at a party and mfking. hahaha

shortnose, it's the only gar that can be id'd by it's yellowish colour.

a wonderful example of why gar can't just be ID'd by color, pattern, etc. If I gave away other clues, it would for sure give it away, so I guess unless you know what this gar is, it is very hard to tell by a picture.

not enough clues! anyways, actually shortnoses cacn be ID'd by their colour. poly told me this a while ago actually. correct me if i remembered wrongly

if you dont include the atractosteus,then i think yes,shortnose gars can be ID'ed by their pattern.

I remember a while back there was a guy with a gar that was really hard to tell whether it was a shrtnose or a florida/spotted, so coloration does not work in all cases, and in the case of the fish I posted, it is indeed NOT a shortnose, so coloration can not be a factor in IDing it.
