Gar is a gonner soon

very tough decision. im sure what ever you decide will be best for the fish. thats too bad. sorry to hear this.

OK, this is just unbelievable. Checking the date on the food I bought when I first noticed the Gar completely stopped eating and it is in the 3rd month now with no food at all. How is this thing still alive. I try every day to feed him and still he refuses. It is like he is almost afraid of the food. He is not all sunken in or anything, he looks the same as he did 3 months ago. I just dont get it. This goes against everything I know as a fishkeeper and a human, animals need food. WTF?

The fish is still alive??
Obviously as you stated it as such.... but this is just fricking wacky...I would suggest changing up the food a bit and also getting that fish in a tank of it's own with no others to cause any further issues..A big tupperware tub would work fine.

Can you post a pic of the fish???

Best picks I could take just now, dont want to get him freaked out, I try to get better ones later if he moves.

Keep him alive. If its been 3 months, he has to have eat something, ya know what I mean? I think it is a spine injury. As long as he looks ok and is alive, keep him that way. (Not meaning stressful or anything like that)

i think he is looking very thin. it really sux that he has been this way for so long. doesnt sound like it is going to get any better.

in the first post you said this gar was a trop. and in the pick i think it is a florida. doesnt really matter but i just thought i would point that out.

also i really do hope he eats and pulls through. i just cant believe it has been this long.

I have read somewhere that there are ways to force feed fish...it would be very stressfull, but what about trying?

tweesers and a shrimp?
