I really don't see much problem for you starting out with a gar as long as you understand a few basics. You need to have a decent sized tank. 30 gallon or more to start our with and will need a 55-100 gallon in 6 months or so. They will need to eat guppies, goldfish , or some minnows. They are tuff as nails so as long as you keep the water semi clean you wont have an issue. As for the air pump, as cheap as they are it kinda just makes sense to airate the water. They eat a lot but are a trip man, do it
fishheadPH;4579011; said:very cool, did u get em in cartimar?
fishheadPH;4579049; said:yup I just got back from there before my original post, Love the place. I found out about the cartimar a few months back and have gotten a lot of fish there with good luck so far. I have been socking the food to the alligator gar and it is growing like a weed. They don't feed them very much at all there so they don't grow fast. You will be amazed how fast.
I don't know of any places closer to my home in pasig so it's basically where I get all my feeder fish. Pretty cheap when you can get these nice sized carp or koi for 10 pesos (maybe a quarter). Dude can't catch the kataba's lol
been a week now bro, how about yours?fishheadPH;4581813; said:Yeah you will be needing the good sized fish soon. You just have to look around for them, Idk really how to explain hwere they are but the newer building section where they include cats, dogs, and fish etc. He is about 13 inches long already. Last night he ate 2 huge kataba, 3 good sized koi , and a regular sized goldfish lol. How long have you had yours now?
