Gar on board...

looks like my gar exact with the same markings...although mines a lil more darker on the top... now u have me thinking what i have?? spotted? or alligator?

doubt it looks exactly the same as your gar. more likely an issue that many gars out of water look quite similar though.

the one on the home page site was not this individual/photo.


thanks for the comments responses everyone! this is indeed the Croc II hybrid. we had to remove several fish for tissue sampling (we'll soon know the exact species components of this fish) last week, and so i was sure to snap some photos. will try to post a couple others when i get the chance.

fish was definitely a beast and weighed a good amount...i was nervous about handling it mainly because of the rarity of the specimen. luckily the fish recovered just fine in the tank upon return.

the fish has put on a tremendous amount of weight in the past year, with really no fluctuation in feeding schedule from previous years, which leads to my suspicion that "she" may be developing eggs. whether or not they are fertile remains to be seen along with many other issues, but that is the basis of us loosely calling the fish a "she".--
