  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
glad to read everything went well...good luck with phase ii. And speaking of feeders, I'm on my way in a few to get some for my cuban.

...still interested in a spotted :D (i'll send a PM)

thanks paul. yeah, the phase I gars are all eating frozen anchovies quite well now...sometimes they need to be "faked out" that the food may be alive (usually just drop it near them or move it with a stick), but they all readily take them and pig out. pellet training shouldn't be too difficult with that group but i am not spending any time with it now.

as for phase II, i got a couple of them to take down hikari sticks today, so there is promise. waiting for them to get a bit larger and will experiment further. i want to get that whole group on pellets if possible.--

Good deal. I take it that they should also accept fish fillets and shrimp, too?

yes, they should...but i'm not experimenting any further as they are eating what all my adult gars are eating, and the whole anchovies are healthier than fish fillet or shrimp. as long as the food items are of the appropriate size/shape, the CBGs should take them at this point. floating pellets may take some more work, but they are definitely taking food off the bottom if it looks like a fish!--

They definitely seem to be pretty eager to convert to alternative foods which is a good sign, huh? I'm curious to see how fast the second batch converts to eating pellets full-time.

just a quick update after being away for a day or two over the weekend. all CBGs in this part of the study are now taking FD krill, which is a good sign for further conversion to non-live. some took it right from the surface, others from feeding stick (which they ravenously attacked), but all of them took the krill nevertheless.

still working on the smaller group to convert, they are much more challenging.--
