Did you have a lot of flow? Possibly to much for a young atf? Or maybe you had no rest spots?

Maybe 10x turnover. Running a 3x turnover filter and then powerhead on other side. Plus a large piece of driftwood in the middle that should give deads pots. Maybe it was still too much. Never seemed to bother my Aimara but he was bigger.

Sorry for your loss buddy. It's really annoying to loose a fish without knowing what the root cause is.

Did the fish look really skinny? Could be something internal, parasitic possibly, which could also explain why it wasn't eating. Wes treats his fish AFAIK, has always been good quality ime, but it is possible he something stuck through it as such a case isn't unheard of. Your turn over doesn't sound bad, nothing like the sticky suggests which I would deem as to much for a young fish.

He was skinny but I dont think he looked emaciated like I have seen some that have been starved. I did not ask Wes if he treated, but I trust him and his reputation, and I think it would be insulting to accuse him of sending a fish with parasites. For all I know the barbs I picked up introduced something to the tank.

If I want to treat the tank just to be safe for future inhabitants, should I just use prazipro or is there something else I should also apply?

Starved to death bro. This is why I posted what I did earlier in your thread. The whole process of import, then acclimating to a number of different environments, plus getting shipped across the country is incredibly stressful for a young fish. No food is the straw that broke the camel's back. Sorry for your loss though.

Quason778 Quason778 They are swimming and eating away like barbs are known for. I will say that they definitely use the driftwood for cover/dead spots alot more than the GATF did.

shookONES shookONES I think you are right. Most of my experience is with piranhnas which are much hardier. Instead of being so caught up on getting pellet/dead food trained I should have probably given him some guppies to fatten up first. I will also say I overestimated his aggressiveness to attack smaller fish for food. I thought he would attack the barbs for food if he was hungry, but I am guessing he just needed something much smaller.
