i know it's a croc I, it looks different compared to a gator, but i cant quite put my finger on it. can you guys give me a hand in the ID differences bw croc gar I and gator gars? thanks!

I don't have any experience with either, but looking at it, its snout doesnt look as broad as a normal gator gar.

or as short, but that doesn't seem to sum it up:D

To me that would seem like enough info to tell you that it isn't just an alligator gar.

there are croc gar. there is more than one "species" of them and they are hybrids. Go visit primitivefishes for more info on them.

hybrid gars
Lepisosteus platostomus x Atractosteus spatula- Crocodile gar type I
Lepisosteus platyrhincus or oculatus x Atractosteus spatula-Crocidile gar type 2
Four known types exist both in wild and cultivated varieties:

Atractosteus spatula X Lepisosteus platostomus (Croc gar type I)
A. spatula X L. platyrhinchus (Croc gar type II)
A. spatula X L. oculatus
A. spatula X L. osseus

There is a strong possiability of A.spatula X A. tropicus from mexican aquacultured fish
