Gentle Alligator Gar

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i used to dive an aquarium and trust me fish with little brains are very smart they know how to get what they want whicj is food and space they let the divers know those two things quite often and not all dangerous creatures are mean kinda like humans there are a frew gentle ones out there good on ya keep petting that friendly gar bastard

Like my arowana kept banging his head when he was trying to catch minnows, but now it waits until they are away from any decor before grabbing them, and when it eats crawdads it grabs them from behind so they cant pinch him lol

thanks guys for all your inputs... i'll always be on the lookout for any aggressive behavior whenever i'm feeding it... will keep you guys posted...:)

as soon as mine not hungry or starving, he's gentle.

I've him just 1 yr, my hand still has no bitten wound.

I've got some pics but I dont like to take a shot neither do him.

Yeah well here is how the people that know better work with the fish. Sorry it is a really bad idea to think of these fish as animals that can be petted / hand fed and not a potentially dangerous animal. They are not "pets" they are captive animals with alot of power and the ability of F-ing you up in more ways than one. This is just common sense is it not? Yes BTW I do have a great deal of experiance in working with Atractostus spatula both as juviniles and 7 foot adults.

DAMN, urs is huge, I would never put my hand against my aligators mouth since mine would want to bite me.

about the fish having small brains just to say my 12" florida gar will follow my finger along the tank and if i stand on the left side he will come to the left and vice versa he doesnt try to bite though just turns so his eye is facing me same thing with my cichlid

when i put my new Pleco in the tank my alligator gar and flordia gar, the gars would float there and stare at it for hours, and when the Pleco would move, so would they. The pleco couldnt get away with ****, they would just watch the Pleco. Then the funniest thing was they would slowly swim up and poke it with their snouts. Not try to harm it or eat it, but just poke it gently.

sweet pics!
