Geo Grow out thoughts...

I'd take the Tapajos II personally, as they'll probably be more accommodating to future plans with the tank given their location.

With that said however, the only issues with the balzanii is the cooling period which many regard unnecessary, and G. megasema being from reasonably far south and that I have absolutely no experience with anything regarding them. :)

Japes,

When you said this "and G. megasema being from reasonably far south" does that mean care is different for them? Temps warmer? Help me understand...

As I said I have no experience with them. Being the stunning geographer I am, I've just looked at a map, and they're really only slightly south-west of the Rio Tapajos anyway. I had it pictured in my head that Bolivia was further south, north west of Uruguay. They'll be absolutely no different to any of the Brazilian and northern species I'd imagine.

Quite late here, don't mind me.

PS. I'd still take the Tapajos II :naughty:

In all my tanks I have the following Geo/Gym/Mykro species:

5x-Geophagus sp. "Tapajos Red Head"
6x-Geophagus sp. altifrons "Rio Tocantins – Green"
4x-Geophagus abalios
6x-Geophagus sp. "Nieva"
1x-Gymnogeophagus balzanii
5x-Gymnogeophagus n. sp.paso pasche I "Rio Santa Lucia"
5x-Gymnogeophagus n. sp.blue neon "Valentines"
4x-Mikrogeophagus altispinosa
35x-Geophagus sp. "Nieva" (Fry)

:D

I would do the megasema, because getting them later might be hit-or-miss, whereas you should be able to get the others again. Megasema or Tapajos II for me.

wow that's an impressive list!

I have altifrons and abalios in the same tank. They are of course different but look similar enough that I'm somehow losing interest in both...but it's probably just me.

Thanks peathenster!

I will say the Alfies have started to bore me, but the Albios are so different and are the largest Geos I have, Plus talk about different from the OH, Nieva, Alfies! My Albios are also getting some nice trailers, as the tank evolves, I will shrink down my Alfie group, but enjoy my Albios, all of em have started to come almost all the way to my hand come feednig time (Including the Silver Dollars I have a dithers) I have fallen in love with the Geos as much as I had with my old Parachromis, but I can feel safe that there is a lot less chance of aggression death in my SA tank then there ever was in my CA tank! But I derail my own post!

I just sent a email to my guy, I went with the Megasema, but asked if the Tap II and Balzanii will be available come the GCCA Classic, I know they will, worst case, Ill drive down to Indy and get my group of Tap II's from Repair (I gave him the group last year and hate myself for it!)

Megasema........

Nuthman~

:D
