Here are some new pics i just took. They've definitely colored up a lot in the tank since yesterday, but my point and shoot camera flash just washes everything out. They are both showing a dark bronze marking on the pre-opercle, but not a black marking. It doesn't really show in the pics because it gets washed out.

I can already tell, whatever they are, they're going to have some great coloring.

Those pictured are G. abalios Conner. As for the G. iporangensis discussion, I agree with bbortko's comment regarding the snout. Below is me transcribing from Wiedners book on G. iporangensis:

Characters of the species:
This species is more elongate compared to 'G. brasiliensis'. The head is longer and appears rather more pointed. The body and caudal peduncle are less deep. Accourding to Haseman (1911) the fins of preserved specimens are virtually without spots., dark at the base, and edged in black. There is a dark spot at the base of the caudal, a lateral spot on the centre of the flank and no, or only a few blue dots on the body.

Cool. I'll have to try to take some better pictures of them this weekend. Unfortunately my little point and shoot isn't very good at taking detailed pics of fish.

If they end up just being brasiliensis, then that's perfectly fine with me, as that is what I was hoping they were when I bought them. If they end up being iporangensis, that's cool, it just means I've got another group of cool geo's to keep.

Hopefully I'll be getting a new DSLR in the next few weeks, and if I do I'll make sure to take some really nice pics of them for you guys.
