I recently got 2 Geo brasiliensis in my 75G. I’m having a bit of trouble figuring out what’s going on. I had 1 female Geo Sveni about double their size and ended up having to remove her as these 2 were starting to bother her. They are about 3 inches each and were doing GREAT together. They made a home under a propped up rock they shared and were inseparable. Since I’ve removed the Sveni I’ve noticed 1 hides at the top of the tank and the other just pokes around while not beating up the scared one. Now I thought I had a pair but not so sure now.... can anyone help me without venting figured out if these are 2 females?

The 3 photos I added are of the same one. I can’t get the other out to take a picture. However it appears this one has “her” vent tube lowered. The other looks identical including the lowered vent but is smaller and far less colorful.

Edit: I found a previous photo of the other one when it wasn’t hiding. Last photo is the other one.

I really appreciate any and all help. I have no intent on adding more unless these are both females.... then I need to find a home for 1 as I don’t want 2 pair in a 75.C69C7931-379B-47EC-90F5-47AB5D928783.jpeg6BA288F7-FD1D-43DE-8827-63354B166A00.jpegBE5C24FC-FC70-4479-A2BA-041F1E04154A.jpeg

It's hard for me to see how the breeding tubes are shaped but they look the same. Could be 2 females or 2 males.

Yikes. When I got the second one I personally as well as the LFS vented so it’s definitely a her. Looks like I need to find a home for 1 of them and double check the next one for a male..... I don’t see anything but problems with 2 breeding pairs in this tank..... I really appreciate your help here!

Can you define pointy? I will say ones tube is quite a bit larger then the others. I need to just pull the one I’m not sure of and vent it.

They are pretty young and tbh don't know if they will spawn at that size.

Currently I’d hope not. Tank isn’t fully stocked just yet but I’d like to resolve any issues before they actually happen. I’m being a helicopter parent as this is my first experience with geos and SA cichlids in general. Tired of the African jerks.
