Hello guys,
i got 100 pcs of these Jurupari but some of them had different colors than the others, please check the pics and let me know why this happens, maybe it is because a kind of sexual dimorphism or they are different sp.?

There is very little sexual dimorphism for jurupari, if any. Only more obvious when breeding. Yours just came in, right? they are probably stressed. Give them time and see if the colors don't even out. Also, jurupari are almost identical to their closest cousin Satonoperca leucosticta. you might have gotten some of those mixed in with the rest

The two you posted pics of FishExporter are true jurapari ... that's why they don't have the irridesance on their cheeks ... also both jurapari and leucosticta have wide ranges with differant color forms.

here's my jurupari, LFS had him marked and a brasilinesis for 5.99 and 50% off too :)

Thank you guys for your answer. So the color it is because the stress, i think it is right. Cause when i hit the glass of the tank one of them change to intense color black, but not all.

Someone really wants that sticker...lol

Everyone wants that sticker......

Btw GREAT thread/info. I've decided to get a Geo to hang with my GT and I wasn't sure if he'd be too agressive but from reading what would make good/ok tank mates I think they should be fine for awhile. If not there's always the emergency empty tank I have running haha :naughty:

I just got one for free he is super cool never hides always has his dorsal fin up. I am still trying to get him to eat certain pelletss etc.
