Geophagus PICTURES ANYBODY & EVERYBODY

To tell you the truth, I can't really remember how much he was. I've had him/her about three years and it's really grown quite a bit since then. Was probably around $20 but I can't say for sure. Not sure how to sex them, but it's probably my favorite fish out of all the ones I have. Very fun to watch and quite beautiful at this size.

yours is Exquisite... i hope to get one that looks as nice..

Do they always look so good? or do they look better with age?

From the ones I've seen they look pretty cool from a smaller 2-3 in size as well. Although I think this one has developed with age. He has a very "jeweled" look, which I think has developed. Let me see if I can find an old pic.... Ok, here's one that's at least two years old if not more. There has been a lot of development in the pattern on the forehead since then.

oh def... WHat you know about Altrfrons/ Jurapuri/ and other species? which have the best decorated finnage?

This is the only Geophagus I've had and haven't followed many of the other types. Sorry I can't be more help.

There has to be some good books you could read... Excellent info in books ..

Your jurupari is very nice, but he's not a Geophagus ;) They're Satanoperca jurupari, not Geo...just in case anyone is looking for information on them. Still eartheaters, but not geos :)

I currently have 4 very small baby G. altifron, 3 juvenile S. daemon, and 1 juvenile G. 'surinamensis.' (He's highly likely not actually, I'm thinking he's probably an altifron.)

Well, some pics I've found of the Satanoperca jurupari don't look like mine (look more like the Geophagus), but some indeed look like mine.

Thanks for the info.

David
