Unfortunately, yes...The one I have is being sold if its a female....And I'll be getting a group of RH's in the next few weeks.

I knew nothing about them when I bought him from the LFS, and now I see how freaking stunning they are...I need to get a proper group of them.

Thank you. I would like to keep him, but purchasing 3+ geos his size would break my bank...So selling him and getting a group of Geophagus sp. "Red Head Tapajos" or Geophagus sp. "Rio Pindare" is the next best thing.

Am planning on making the switch to PFS this weekend if all goes well.

Do all geos need to be kept in a group

Vast majority, but only when young.

Agreed. Most geos need groups of 4+ until they have reached 2/3 their ultimate size (and this is based only my experience talking with other geo keepers and my personal opinion). After that, they seem to do fine as singles or pairs. Unfortunately many of them get so big that a group of 4+ adults would be all anyone could keep in most of their tanks. Red head geos only get to 5-6" normally and a group of 4 of them needs at least a 75 and that would leave room for a few dithers and that is it. Many people would even argue a 6' tank is the minimum for a group of red heads. Now imagine what a group of adult altifrons would need being that they can hit 10-12"! LOL

Yeah that would def be all I would stock with ...I can always wait a little when the oscar/gt grow a little then get a larger read head. This is the great thing about these forums... all this stocking advice is great...never get this from lfs
