I don't know why you couldn't do some rummy nose. I think they look great. They make nice tight schools and I think the red would make for a nice contrast. I understand that they can be a bit fragile when first being introduced but as long as you take your time and do it right I can't see any problems with them.
yeah the rummys are nice, but again with my input im goin off of what im planning and telling you what i chose it for..the serpae ive heard can be a bit of a fin nipper, and in a bigger shoal can sometimes harass other fish.. but thats one of those 50/50's where u might luck out or you might not. the cherry barbs are ok and will school but not as tight and neatly together as the neons or cardinals.. plus with the cherry barb you only get one shade of redish color per say where as the other two you have a set of blue and red that stand out more.
Yeah I'm looking for some red or yellow to add to my GREEN!!! since that's the color I intend to keep my plants. Ah... INtentions intentions.... I ordered my lighting today! NEXT it's the plants. ANd then to make sure the cycle holds! Then introduce my Danio's in there to build the tank and mature it a little then the rams and the mystery tetra/ barb. I"m leaning toward Rummies, Serpae or some small barb or rasbora. CONTRAST!!! that's what I'm looking for. Feel free to throw up other ideas. Just keep in mind its a twenty gallon tank and I don't want baby rams eaten. >:0
yeah thats the problem, they can and most of the time will yellow out nicely with good conditions but its not always guaranteed from what ive seen, but once again, its only my experience though..but i have seen some nice ones
yeah I saw some BLOOD red Serpae Tetra's in a display planted tank at my LFS I should get some pics and show you guys. THey're AWSOME. I want them so bad. ANd thier Halfmoon Betta thats in there. At least I convinced them to get him out of that HORRID little bowl he was in on the counter after he jumped out. Lucky I was there to see it. I happened to walk by and he was on the floor. I panicked a little and picked him up. The tank was right there so I put him in there instead of the bowl. I told them I didn't know that's where he was supposed to be and he's stayed there ever since. He seems much more active now. I'm watching my male and female halfies flare at each other from diff ten gallon tanks. THey're in love when they're not in the same tank. I got them thier own ten gallon tanks and took out the divider.... Anyway... I digress.... Tetra's Tetras....
