Getting a 550 gallon tank next week...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Man I'm really kicking myself for not going with the sand in the 400. The 125 with sand looks so good. Once the water stops turning brown I'll post up some pics of both tanks. The 125 is holding a bunch of fish for the 400 now.

More pics coming soon. I am doing water changes almost daily now on the 125. I figured out how not to kill fish when doing it. :) This keeps the tannins from building up so much from the driftwood and makes the tank look better. Once I figure out how to take decent pics I will post more up. All the fish pics I take are blurry and suck. I am going to rearrange the wood and rock in the 400 and make that look better too. I still have to have a couple boulders to hold down the driftwood so it doesn't float. One rolled off and hit the side already. :( Even though it's still a work in progress, it's coming along nicely. I am looking for a couple other tanks too in the near future because these fish I keep getting will need some more room eventually. Umbee and Dovii are still on the list, and I've fallen in love with Uaru for some reason too. I got issues. The corner of my basement is gonna be a miniature fish store. I'll post up a pic tomorrow of the whole corner and what I have planned for that area. Basically I have the 400 sticking out like a peninsula from the wall, the 125 going from the 400 to the side wall, and then the side wall will have 4 more tanks stacked up eventually. I am still kicking myself for not doing the sand. The 125 looks SO good with sand, and the 400 looks like a big fish bowl with the gravel. I will scoop out that gravel pretty soon, that is how much it bugs me.

Here are a few pics of what is in the 400 now. Had to put the severums in there for now, but I'm watching the ammonia closely until the tank cycles fully. Finished up the drip tray out of plastic pegboard from Home Depot and got some filter pad material finally from Grainger. Made some tops for the sump out of some scrap plastic I had laying around. Still have a few to design and cut though. Looks good so far.
