Getting a 550 gallon tank next week...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Those are the ones I did with completely dry tubing, so it went well. And I could do it on the ground as a sub assembly, so not using the torch against the ceiling on a ladder right next to 2x4s. The valve is a mixing valve, so the hot comes in on the left and the cold comes in on the right, and you adjust the knob to suit your temperature desired. It only goes as low as 80 I was told, but I just did a water change on the 125 and it works perfectly. It is set on 2 out of 10 (1 being coldest) and it's perfect. Now I just turn the lever and refill the tank. Easy.

Well that was interesting. All the fish are in, except the two Flowerhorns, which look a little under the weather, so I kept them in the 125 for now until they look stronger. I also snagged the 4 Reganis from the 55, along with the Green Terror, Convict, and Jack Dempsey. They are big enough now to protect themselves, and there are many hiding spots in the 400 with the driftwood and rocks. Everybody got a little beat up, including me, but they are doing fine in the 400. Man that Mayan is probably my favorite fish based on his personality and interesting looks. He was the toughest to catch too.

Thanks! Probably getting more rocks today to cover up more of that overflow, so I'll fix all that mess the Flowerhorn did. Watching this tank is really addicting. I find myself getting wrapped up in this tank when I should be doing something else. :)

Very Nicely done. I kind of miss my cichlid crazed days. I do think that the cichlids have the most personality of all the fish I have owned.
By the way is that you Busa in your avatar? Nice as well. I too am a Busa fan, I have had four, from stock to 550 hp turbo...

Very nice website... Yep, love the bikes, the need for speed is as addicting as large aquariums and fish. lol
