then should i get 1 1/4" pvc cause im getting a 642gph pump http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=TA3148

Go with two 1" overflows. There is safety in redundancy. I had an overflow decide it was not going to restart (leaking check valve) and the water volume on the carpet was the equivalent of turning on the garden hose full blast in your bedroom and then running around the outside of the house in the dark in socks before shutting it off. Now picture me in the house in socks looking at my overflowing tank and... well lets just say that the rats out there seem a lot bigger when they are trying not to be stepped on...

Oh, by the way my pump and filter are outside...along with the power cord. An indoor switch is in the works...

Start with treated (dechlorinated/dechloramined) water, then;

Ok way:

3-4 weeks to cycle with just a couple G.fish.

Better way:

Why not take some filter material & water from your 20g if it's ok (nothing sick) and put it in the 75g with the G.fish to speed things up a little? Then maybe 2 weeks

So so way: (no fish die)

You could go strickly fishless and use bacteria in a bottle and feed it some ammonia. 1-3 weeks.

Anyway you do it, monitor your water's chemistry carefully and chart it (write it down).

Good luck and keep us posted,

Dr Joe
