Well it looks like im going to close the deal on this 180. But its comes with some catches and most of them are new to me in this wonderful hobby of our's!!

It was a saltwater set up and comes with a P.skimmer, sump box with a lid that has a pipe connected to it, bio balls, some type of in-line canister,a pump, and a bunch of decor.

It has three holes drilled in the bottom(looks to be 1.5"s), one in the middle and one on each end, and (2" I think)one inside the over flow(black cover thing). Plus there is 2 holes drilled at the top of the tank on each end, im under the impression its for the out takes.

So here are the catches. Any help, suggestions, or some not to do's will be greatly appreciated!!!!

LIGHTING: Plastic black canopy that I want to screw a twin tube lighting fixture to. Will it work or not???????

TANK: The acylic is in good condition but I want to clean it up alittle, and remove any or all strecthes. What do I use for this task??

FILTRATION: I need to know what to do with all 6 holes, how to setup & a line the sump and everything else that I will need. Including pads, heaters, air pump, and last but not least the media. Cause you know I need the water CRISPY!!!!!!

There is a few other catches but I think I can handle them, but on the three above cathces once again any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Im getting a early start, seeing that even if I pick up the tank this weekend it will not be set up until the first week of March. I figured this will give me the chance of getting some expert advice and maybe a diagram from some of are elite hobbyist on the site!!!

Thanks, Cichlid Fiend!!!

Addressed by number;

1. Ditch the protein skimmer. Hang on to the sump, the pump, the bio-balls, and what sounds like a UV Light. You will need these for your plumbing.

2. The holes on the bottom of the tank are most likely the overflow lines. on the tank. It was a reef/salt tank, so there was probably a LOT of flow moving through the tank. The holes at the top are the returns from the sump.

3. I would have to see a picture of what you are talking about to understand. I'm missing the boat on this one.

4. You can buff the tank with Novus 1, 2 & 3 buffing compounds. This is hard work, but it will make the tank look much better. This stuff can be found at your local hardware supplier.

5. Do a search for SUMP or Wet/dry in the General Aquaria section. There is a lot of info to be had. I would start researching how these are done. There are a bunch of different ways to design them. Find the one that works for you.

Thanks boss!!!

Yeah the three holes in the bottom without being in a overflow cover is really confusing me. It seems as if I put gravel or sand in the bottom of the tank it will just fall through the three holes. Man, I need help!!!

Pics would really help. Location is about the only thing we have to go by as to which holes were use for what.

All the holes are smack died in the middle from front to back. From left to right- one at the end and I'll say about 12"s from the end. Next hole is died center of tank in front of the over flow plastic thing, which aslo is in the middle. Next hole is I'll say 12"s from the other end of the tank.

If it comes down to it, can I just close up the three holes in the bottom and just use the one hole that is in the overflow plactic thing for my intake and use the two hole drilled on the back at each end for my out takes?????

Thanks again!!!

My guess would be that they were using them for return lines such as an under gravel jet system.
