Shotguns are nice because you can purchase rubber rounds and beanbag rounds, less lethal, almost zero penetration but nobody likes to get hit in the face or crotch with a bean bag traveling 300ft per second.

So do you just let people walk all over you most of your life? I know me personally this is my god d***ed house and there would be no way in hell I'm picking up and moving because of some scumbags. I'd stand my ground, it's my home and I'll do anything to protect it, the contents, people and myself in it.

Having a side arm with a shot gun is still a good idea. If something actually happens. But if you just want to scare them away and not actually be useful in combat, Bust a ninja pose and say "I'm rick james *****" It worked for me once.

But seriously I would go low caliber hand gun with a large clip. For unarmored combat it will work great and wont kick much. If your going to arm your self, arm your self for armagaden. Because once your in a gun fight, your in a gun fight lol.

Just buy a damn Mossberg 500/590 and call it a day. Nothing sounds like you mean business than a shotgun.

The mods are always right. Besides, mossbergs a super cheap. I can go get a pump action, pistol grip shotgun at gander mountain for around $175. I'm about to go all out and turn my trap shotgun into a thief's worst nightmare. My neighborhood is having more and more trouble with break-ins and cars getting stolen. I dare them to break into my house. They'll be faced with two shotguns.
