Definitely upgrade to at least 800 to 1000gph, it's recommended that your turnover is at least 2x the size of the pond. If your not heating it definitely get a channel, they can take the cold weather and have personality too.

I would suggest more than that. I have 1000gph on my 70 gallon tank. That's 3 filters and I do not have a fish like an RTC

um then you really need to think things over, if you can only go 200 indoors, then go channel cat. and a rtc can jump out of that easily. also for that size pond you need at least a 1200+gph filter pump, my 125 is gonna have over 1000+ gph. also just to let you know, i would only do 1 rtc in there and maybe a few(no more then 3) other fish over 12" just letting you know so you dont make any mistakes. and really a channel cat isnt much different then an rtc, if you really crave the rtc then go flathead catfish, they are just an american rtc(really they are)

fish you have with it will have to be alot bigger then 12. and i would worry about what size rocks you have with it they will also eat them

All due respect, but a RTC doesn't need to be outside in IN in February... or late September, October, November, December, January, March, April and maybe parts of May. He won't be able to handle 200g confinement for that much of the year. Get a native cat for sure.

nice pond

Nice pond! Though I would highly suggest increasing your filtration significantly. Currently in my 1k indoor pond I'm running a 4800 gph through a 60gal wet/dry bio tower for 1 rtc 1 tsn, both about 20" and a 16" pleco. An rtc can really spoil water quickly even a baby. Also in order to keep him outside all yr long I would insulate very very well. You should probably pull out the liner dig it out enough to add at least 4" of foam insulation to all sides and the bottom while keeping the same base detentions. Also make a cover at least 4" thick. This will also lower your heating bill....trust me it'll get high mines indoors and I didn't insulate it very well this winter and it cost big time. After insulating it it cost 1/8 of what it used to. If you don't want to insulate I suggest a channel. The one in my avatar I had for years, unfortunately he died at 30" when there was a power failure. Best of luck with everything!
