Getting bored of my cichlids!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not in a 40B....

South and Central American cichlids are much more fun than African cichlids.
True. Africans are great in a large group but the majority of interaction is going to be within the group and not you. CE/SA are more owner interactive.

So I thought about and ill def get the butterfly fish cause there like mini arowanas lol so this is what I'm thinking of keeping
1x Polypterus Senegalus
1or 2 x African butterfly fish

Cichlids are boring as hell unless they are mixed with other species, after 10 years of cichlids i never looked back changing them out for different species.

CA cichlids are good if you want to have one or two big fish in a huge tank
africans are good if you have A LOT of money to stock the tank fully (or can get some great deals)

they are great fish to keep but after having a boring huge tank of aggression machines and never being able to add any new stock, and not having enough money to fully stock an african tank I just went the large peaceful predator route, and I haven't looked back. Granted your selection will be shortened because of the size of your tank but you might find that a community tank of rare oddball smaller fish would be far more appealing to you, african butterfly fish are awesome I would recommend them, there are various smaller species of catfish and eels that you could have in there also.
