Getting new car..advice?

I have a 2000 Honda Odyssey mini van never thought I would say this but I love it and it is good on gas and great for my 3 kids. Never goes to the shop.

I have changed my thoughts on cars dramatically. Used to have $30k sports car and $12k motorcycle. Now I have a $6k mini van and a $5k car. The difference is I was able to pay cash, no car payment liability only insurance. Cool factors and newness wear off on cars. With the cars you listed the newness will wear off real quick every time you go to the gas pump! The thought of not having a payment never wears off.

So my advice is get what ever car you can pay cash for.

That is great advice. Trust me im not looking forward to having payment the problem is in my head i can only pay certain amount cash for buying from someone which might get me a decent car or that same amount on a down payment for a better newer car. From what ive seen in my area all cars for sale by owners are from 99-01 on my budget for paying cash. Although i might end up doing this for the sale of not having payments. I figure what i save on payments can go into any repairs a used car will bring but at least i own the car.

I like toyotas for quality, though their prices have seemed to skyrocket as of late..... Their newer highlander has third row seating as well as the hybrid option. The newer 4runners also have third row seating. i have a 2000(2row), and a 2010(3 row) both are extremely reliable, but they both average between 17-21 miles per gallon. I had a friend just get a 2011 dodge van something or other, and it has all the bells and whistles, and is perfect for him, his wife, the three kids (aged 7,4,1) and a dog.... good luck!

a bunch of people are gonna come in here and bash all of those.

Yep,just wait.I do agree though the cars on the list are gas guzzlers.I had a 2001 Expedition that I was lucky enough to sell and get rid of soon after I paid it off as the gas prices were just starting to get ridiculous and I found myself looking more at the fuel needle than the road...Tahoes,for some reason are pretty popular at my job. They do have a better ride feel than the Expedition.A coworker let me drive hers and it felt less trucklike than the Ex...How about looking into a Jeep Cherokee.

I should probably add. Im 5'2 lol i have had no problems driving my van which is a bulky long car but ive never driven a large truck or suv. Would my height be an issue with this visibility wise?

I don't think so...My wife is the same height and she misses the Expedition dearly.

Honda, or Toyota is all I need to say for gas and reliabilty, Toyota tacoma 4 door is what I have now, love the truck, Look at the 4 runners, or others that fit the size needs you have, but honestly it all depends on what you are looking to spend. Subaru would be a good option as well.

Also the only way ill get a 4 door car is of its a dodge charger my "dream" car. Anyone have experience with these?

I appreciate all your input guys! Thank you so much! I try my best to be educated before car shopping.

is it me or are people suggesting (not everyone so hold your horses) a bunch of smaller SUVs after the OP posted a bunch of SUVs with the extra row of seats?
