So I was just cruisen around the web and found an exporter from Thailand that is just moving Leos, pearls, marbles, everything, like it is going out of style. I was just wondering if it is possible to order directly from them. This website said there isn't a minimum number of boxes so I am assuming you can order a couple of rays. I was just curious if anyone has done this and if there is a license you need to get to import into the US. If so, how do you get that?

Thanks,
Ashley

Oh and I know there is always the possibility of being scammed but I guess that's a risk I'm willing to take.

You can buy from them but i'm pretty positive you have to find someone with a license to bring it in for you.

OKay. What about someone from an LFS that I guess would be considered a friend. Do you think they would be able to do it?

Does anyone know how to go about getting and import license? How much does it cost and where do you go to get it?

Unless they are a licensed importer I do not believe you can bring them into the country. I would say 99% of LFS employees are not licensed to import. Now if it is a wholesaler that could be a different story.

It says on their website that they are a exporter and wholesaler. If they are a wholesaler does this mean I can buy without a license?

Hey thanks for the website! It says on there that "If any of the fish are to be sold, bartered, or traded (i.e., not for the sole personal use of the person importing them), then that person must obtain an importer's license."

So I guess if I am not going to sell them (which I wasn't planning on) I don't need a license? The whole thing is so confusing and sounds like a huge hassle...uuuuggghh...

You don't need a license, but you'd probably want to use a broker for the shipment. Any animal or animal part coming into the US has to be inspected by US Fish & Wildlife and Customs. A broker will make all the necessary arrangements for you.
