had hamsters.. sad story about that, i left the cage open on accident and my cat got to one ( had 3 ) and ate him, was still alive but was NOT a pretty sight

Also, try and put the cage in a larger, well ventilated room,
not in your bedroom were you sleep.
Its not healthy to breath that ammonia/ crap / piss smell all night.

My daughter got sick from it, of coarse she never cleaned the cage eaither.

I got stuck with one cause my snake didn't want to eat it if that helps lol easy to take care of but they are noisy at night
