ghost knife

my ghost knife is about 5" and i want to know how big they get i have heard up to 12" is that close or not?
 
what are their growth rates like? that'd be awesome to see a bgk at 20 inches, the biggest i've seen is about 12 inches.
 
The one I have is about 9 years old and was purchased at 3".. Lived its whole life in a 55g and has only eaten blood worms.

i'm new at this, not fish, the internet. i'm trying to let you know, give or take
a 36" tank plus frozen and live food and they will get 12". i had one in the late
90's to early 2003 who went from about 3" to about 11"(within the first 2 years) and was with me for about 5 years

brown or black, i should have asked, most brown ghosts do not get as large as
a black ghost
p.s. in their native south american habitat the indigenous native people
believed the black ghost knifefish to be the vessels that carried the spirits
of their departed relatives and as such revered them and left them alone
 
thanks for the history lesson...i really appricate people who can educate me on more than just the average question...with that information can i have more than one in my tank or are they too agressive. mine picked on a catfish and destroyed all of his fins , will they do that to another bgk?
