Short-fin Males are common in Thailand. They're considered the best "fighters" because of their short fins. I believe they seem to look bigger than normal bettas because of their short fins. It makes them appear bigger. In fact, they're about the same size as a normal betta...they just look stalkier. They are, however, more aggressive than the normal betta and have more color. Sorry to say, Sen_Jie, but they would max out at 6" to 8" They'll probably be max out at 4"

wrong, i have a friend who has 3 of these and they are already 6 inches! they are huge! ive actually seen them myself. great looking fish

i like the short finned ones myself the should sell them over here and sell them in tanks not the jars I get really upset when fish stores house bettas in jars so they stock more thats what tank dividers are for

i have seen them at 5 inches at the lfs i worked at. they are the true scrappers. they are just as aggressive and larger and can do some serious fightin. i regret not getting one as i have not seen any that big since!!!

Agreed, a long finned fresh water betta would be something nice to have, though there is also the salt water spotted betta (not sure if thats the correct name though?)
