Giant blue prawn vid

Lar get nasty hooked claws, very common in the creek down the road. We also have rosenbergii in western flowing rivers about an hour or so from here. I should have some pics of local lar, will have a scout.

**here is a local creek one, not a monster but getting there

This one is about 4" shell with 10" claws.

I wouldn't put one in with any medium to large cichlids. One of two things will happen:

-it picks off a few or all of them
-it tries to shed and the cichlids have a gourmet dinner

That said, if you had a LOT of cover in the tank then it might be possible. Still risky for the fish when the prawn goes out patrolling at night. Wouldn't be worth it, IMO.

His claws are long enough to reach out of the water while he's standing. I almost feel bad for him because it seems cumbersome. Need to move him to a bigger tank but I'm a little worried as I hear that larger prawn do not take well when being moved.

In any event.. enjoy my little monster vid. :)
