that thing is huge kinda got to wonder about the catch and release thing IMO the damage to the ray might be to much for it to cope with

i'm surprised they haven't stung anyone yet. or they chop off their tails? I'm guessing not if they're released alive right?

I still have doubts on how well they do after they are released. the accumulation from the lactic acid may not be apparent initially, but the battle, and held down., could lead to internal organ hemorrhage or worse.

try stringing your pet s.a. ray to a rope for several hours, and pull it around the tank against its will., see how well it does after. and remember, these fish are hundred times bigger, which means more work to try to break free. i'm skeptical.

catch and release sounds noble, but in reality its less

This is from the man that runs the trips

All of the rays are released unharmed after capture. The fishsiam team get paid very well for their hard graft. We ensure that the barb is always firmly wrapped and secured at all times during photography to ensure the safety of all those concerned in the capture of these mighty beasts.Giant freshwater stingray are currently listed as threatened on the IUCN red list. This due to the fact that there have been so very few documented captures in previous years. In addition this species was first formally described in 1989

Can't imagine what would happen if that thing got it's stinger in someone.
