I would advise against moving them to a seperate tank, RTGG's seem to beat on each other even when small. My 2 males when approx 4 inches battled until one had ripped the dorsel fin of the other to shreads. Requiring months in a hospital tank. The remaining females in there holding tank back at the LFS beat on each other until, either they where sold or died. My smallest female was the last remaining RTGG at the place. She still keeps somewhat to herself on one side of the tank most of the time.
Crap! I've moved them already... guess I'll have to monitor them closely now... and buy some melafix...

I'd move them, even after the updates about them feeding etc. they are not in the best condition so a separate tank would leave them with no potential aggression issues and you could treat them on their own and grow them out a bit. Disagree even with your redtail experience but then that's nothing new, if there a plenty of hiding places they should be ok, bare in mind they are not in the best condition, so will be more interested in getting better rather than fighting. When Lou has got them back to health then yes there could be problems.

Ok then we are all agreed that they are ggs, purchased for the cost of a small gourami?
Sexing has not been fully decided but one male and one female is the general opinion.
Tequila = 100% rtgg
Lou = coming round to the 100% rtgg
Me = after the other comments 80% exodon

Am I the only one who is not seeing the red in the right places on the photos? Lou, can you get a flashed shot close up of the tail? A closer flash photo may just wash out the color just that much more, I would suggest that you buy a better monitor instead.;)
There is nothing wrong with my monitor dude;)

Tequila can comment much better than me on the Red tail business as he has 4 that he has raised. You got that right We agree:headbang2

Get feeding them up Lou!
depending on your tanks temp I would feed them like 3~5 times per day. I feed mine in the beggining live blackworms, bloodworms, then mealworms and then switched over to earthworms, superworms, crickets. and a few feeders that where really ment for the Aro that used to be in with them. While I didn't at first offer mine veggies they fed on the remaining aquarium plants in the tank.
Lou, You'll need a shovel, cheap rates on export:ROFL:

I'll breakout the popcorn why we all sit back and wait a few months

Mmmmmmmm...........Popcorn! __________________

Hmmmmm melafix, you can't beat it for just about everything, although the waterlife myzaxin I used when George was going through the difficult fin ripping stuff I would also now swear by.

If you've moved them where are they now in the gourami tank?

They are now in the gourami tank and I've moved the 3 rowdy males to the big tank (where I saw one of them trying to nip the tail of the pacu!)

Things seem to be quiet now... they are swimming cautiously with the female that remained there... no sign of aggression.

The channa totally ignores them (it never cared about the other gouramis before anyway) and the crayfish will not be a problem (unless they lay immobile long enough on the bottom for her to grab them)...

All we need to do now is to wait for them to eat well, get better and grow. :) Then I'll move them back to the big tank.

By the way, I've looked closely at the one with the deformed jaw... it seems that the jaw had been broken and pushed to one side... don't think it would ever get back to normal... this doesn't seem to hinder the fish when it feeds... but we'll have to see how things evolve when it grows (most probably the other one will grow bigger and faster)...

Updates on this, please :)
Sorry Lou I missed this but there's been a great deal of a buzz over your new giants and I forgot to say congratulations as you've been after one for, well since I've been here. Between all the is it this or that I think the main thing is you have not one but two and you paid hardly anything for them. If they are exodons then great we can compare but if they turn out to be red tails then it's all good as you finally found some :headbang2

To answer your question here are some rather boring pictures of some gravel;)

Pm Bruce, one of his had the jaw completely ripped off and it healed, some good TLC and I'm sure they'll pull through just fine:)

It seems to me that we have the same type of gravel! :) It's so great to see your tank like that :) Now I guess you will be arranging the 3 pieces of wood for a more pleasing appearance, right? Maybe form an IWAGUMI in wood instead of stone? ;)

Let me guess, I need a blackground as well:ROFL:
IWAGUMI to me means plants, based on that design

Can't have plants because:
a. The silver dollar(which I need a name for) would eat them as would George
b. Tequila would have me pumping my life savings into flourite being the international promoter for all things seachem(only joking dude ;))

I'd have to remortgage the house to fill that tank with flourite on this side of the moon, plus it would upset the moon monkey;)

I do like the rock versions but If you want I'll move the wood around, then why not, all suggestions are welcome

Iwagumi is a an arrangement of stones really... and it it used in planted tanks... what I was suggesting is that you use the arrangement with your pieces of wood... sort of in a triangle... no need to add any plants... :)

And, we'll leave the background out for now :) I like the way your tank looks without it.
