Finally I caught the men battling out while the lights where on, Round 1

:headbang2

Today was a day of Fighting my 2 male RTGG's have been clashing all day long. Locking lips and throwing each other around the tank causing vortex's throughout the tank. Water is everywhere and I've about had it with these 2 over sized pan fish. I have grown these fish as large as I willing to bear, tomorrow they go up for sale on Craigslist. I would probably be able to deal with them a year longer or so if when I went out a bought new fish they didn't start chasing all over the dam tank. I had to flash start another tank, or loose the $26 in fish. Most of my LFS are starting to carry smaller fish and in the case of large fish there getting in babies that compare to these dam things would take years to get to this size.

I'm thinking along the lines of a large planted Aquascape while most of these fish grow. Or maybe I should just paint the back of the tank black and fill it with Red Parrots.

And here they go again:

Amazing battle.
Is it just the males that do this?
Are you going to sell them all or just the aggressive ones?

How about a fully planted tank with about 2000 tetra neons, hassle free fish keeping;)

You joke but I have been giving it some thought, of course not with 2000 Neon Tetras but somewhere around 333 odd community fish both egg layers and some of the odder livebearers. Livebearers are always a good thing for a community tank because they supply a rich source of live food for the other fish in the community. More so than the egglayers because the livebearers don't bother with protecting there young. Plus in a well planted tank you will always end up with 2~3 babies making it to weeks end maybe longer. Egglayers will supply the rest of the fresh nutrition, but the community will have to take the risk of being attacked to get to the good stuff.

To me the MOST relaxing and enjoyable Aquascape isn't a planted tank, or Monsters in a large or super large Aquarium. Those are all superly nice. But if I had the bucks, for me the Grestest enjoyable and relaxing Aquascape is a Marine Invert Aquascape. I can sit in front of a well done Marine Invert tank for hours on end. Nothing amazes me more than looking at a tank and seeing new a wonderous and colorful creatures big and small alike in there own world. Yes I love freshwater fish in every size and color too, I have even set up a tank 20G for Leeches, but theres nothing like your very own portion of the Deep at home.

But at this stage the only way I would be able to afford a nice Marine Invert tank @ 180G, would have to do the whole thing wholesale, and even then it wouldn't be cheap. But it would be Stunning!

I wasn't joking, I think it would look amazing with a massive shoal swimming through a fully planted tank as it would with a large community.

Properly set up marine tanks are definitely the most stunning to look at mainly imo because of the massive differences in colours. Our discus tank would have been marine if Mrs Y had her way but I managed to talk her out of it because of 1.cost and 2.everyone I've ever met who's done it and said roughly the same thing: yes they're nice but it's too much work. If you decide to empty your bank on it then I'd love to see a picture one day.

Shame your losing the redtails they look great in the vids, with any luck someone on here may buy them and you can enjoy watching them grow up through pictures, safe in the knowledge that your floor is dry;)

Tequila,

As your selling them, never a better time to take the cheese test challenge;)

Y
