I could be wrong, because I haven't fished in years, but that fish looks like a muskellunge to me, not a northern pike. I always thought that northern pike were smaller and darker in color. Anybody else have an opinion on that?

I agree, I don't think it's a northern pike....
Amazing fish all the same, I'd love it if it were possible to have a huge esox lucius and a huge channa micropeltes together in an outrageously huge tank, now that would be interesting:drool: :naughty:

It's a northern, muskies have strips and are lighter in color.

I know that northerns get very large up here in MN if you go to red lake, mille lac, or up by boundry waters. I think the biggest are in red lake but they are declining because people keep taking giants home. That is why they are trying to preach doing taxidermy with replicas and not the actual fish. Some people like to eat northerns also but you there are plenty of smaller northerns to eat IMO, should take take a pic and release these gaints.

dam thats huge. my dads got a 42incher mounted and i thohg tthat was big

bad pic, but this is a 42 inch redfish caught in South Texas.. ..weighed in @ 39lbs.. I can see that pike weighing 44+ ..especially with that big belly..
