Giant Snakehead As Feeders?!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think using them as feeders is fine. A good reason they could be used for feeders is that because they are prolific and there is not a shortage of them. I am sure if Arowanas were not deemed the "lucky fish" and were prolific they would also be used as feeders. I think anything that comes to mind that is easily available can be used as feeders.

In the USA, the main feeder fish here in Goldfish but I have tried to source other types of feeders for my Monsters before. One of them being Rainbow trout. People could say the same about Rainbow Trout being a very beautiful fish etc etc, but it doesn't change the fact that I could get them in abundance and use them as a feeder if I wanted to.

During my search for alternative feeders, I also thought about using Large Mouth Bass Fry as feeders too. I called many fish farms about getting them but rainbow trout came out cheaper in the end. I love LMB and would love to keep a large specimen of one in my tank but I see nothing wrong with it being used as a feeder.

I think what we used for feeders is all a matter of choice. The Giant snakeheads just were easily available and so people thought "Why not?", but it doesn't mean people care less for them. I have seen many people keep them as pets in the same places were they are sold as feeders.

I would love to eat a human Rather kill us off and eat each other than harmless animals P.S. Can anyone ship me over a dozen gaint snakehead babies to New Jersey I swear I'll only use them as feeders

Actually i do not see whats the problem with using snakeheads as feeders. If you don't like it then don't use them lah, everyone got a personale preference one. And if you really do not feel comfortable with feeding a life to your pet then dont rear fishes that need to be fed live foods. I also do not see why you have to leave us just because you do not get along with some people here doesnt mean the rest of us do not appreciate the contributions that you have made and can make in the future. All the best anyway.

its the survival game
eat or be eaten

in an aquarium, the pet fish has the advantage

that's simple as that

i dont think sh's should be used as feeders also, theyre neat!!!hehe.. goldfish, and rosies on the otherhand, r boring. so who cares for them?NOT I

Well.... here... all small fish that come in big numbers are considered feeders...

my mentor actually uses neon tetras and danios as feeders... why? coz they're cheap... and the fact is they're abundant.

As for the SHs... if these babies did not become feeders they wld still end up in the supermarket when they hit a certain size and be eaten by us. So no difference really.

Its just the survival of the fittest..its the same everywhere....

even the lion (termed king of the jungles) gets eaten by a pack of hyenas (saw in animal planet channel)...theres just no hard and fast rule to say what cannot be eaten by another or can be eaten.

taker's just tired of getting pwned here on MFK; we know too much about fish. First he's shown how aimara destroy snakeheads, now he's shown that his favorite fish is just a feeder food, for both fish AND humans. its too much for him to handle.
