contents of 8x3x3 tank
channa micro/hoplias mala/asian arrow/silver arrow/2 pbass/bagarius yarelli/Irwini/Tilapia
channa/RTHB arrow/silver arrow/2 Pbass have been living together in a very small space for months in peace. hoplias mala kept alone. yarelli kept with large arrows/lates/birchirs/crenchila/tarpon.
There have been some minor losses over the past few months, mostly to the yarelli and my underestimation of it. The channa, yarelli, and hoplias ate sizeable and fast fish that I didn't expect them to either be able to catch or swallow.
since making the post, and over the collection period, observations of behavior prompted me to dedicate a tank to this and give it a try. Formula applied here is to mix fish that aren't aggressive (accept to food), no one fish small enough to fit in the largest mouth, hiding places, and well fed. Not suggesting this would work for others that have or will try... I think 50% why this has worked (so far) is the individual temperments of these particular fish. When stock purchased were targeted, a requirement where possible, was to find fish that were and had been kept in cohabs (with acception of yarelli and hoplias). The gulper fish didn't make it. Grew too slow and ate too many non-feeder fish. it's sitting on consignment at the LFS. Would like to add a blue eye pleco later.
minimal chasing and bumping done by tilapia and hoplias. no nipped fins. Been almost a week now. Fish are eating live food.
Apologize for poor photos. taken with camera phone. my gf took the real camera. Lots of similar shots here with aim to show fish interaction. I don't know how to post videos.
