One day he will disappear and his friends will say he went doing what he loved to do..

I don't think we have anything like this in California...this state is way to PC for that. I guess I have to go north or way south to be able to check this off my bucket list. Not that I don't like enjoy petting the pygmy goats at Disneyland, I just wished we had something a little more exotic.

When I travel through the northern areas of Pennsylvania I notice a few different signs and billboards advertising "roadside" zoos and I'm always tempted to stop and check them out.I will one of these days.

The game park in Bandon, OR is a fun place. In past years, late June/early July was when they had a lot of babies in their nursery for holding/petting. We call them to see what babies they have available for petting. When the babies get too big to hold, they are brought out on leashes, and guests can bottle feed them and pet them.

The big cats grow up fast, so there's only a small window of opportunity to hold them. I asked to see this leopard again, and they brought him out. He was intently checking out all the other animals walking by the nursery. He was not mellow like tiger cubs are.

Great pictures! We are staying in Gold Beach this summer and plan to check out the game park, hopefully they have some cubs. I know what you mean about a short opportunity to hold them, I think that the tiger cub in my first photo was only about three months old and already weighed close to forty pounds!

Dan, if you haven't already done it, you have to do the sand dunes south of Florence, OR. Jessie Honeyman State Park is a great place to camp and play in the sand dunes. If you are going to be in Southern OR this summer, you will hit the park when they have the most big cat babies...just call before you go so you know exactly what babies they have. (Right now they only have a black bear cub---and I hate bears---too many times they got into our garbage--so I wouldn't think of driving there right now)

If you're going to be in Gold Beach, you can make day trips--Oregon Caves out of Cave Junction, OR is nice on a hot day. Children have to be at least 42" tall, though. Crescent City is not that far. We have redwood groves. Jed Smith Park is nice. In the summer there is a foot bridge across the Smith River. The redwoods are so majestic. You could also drive further south and drive Avenue of the Giants. If you did that, stop in Scotia and tour Pacific Lumber's mill. You can't miss the mill--it's right off Hwy 101. If you do go to Cave Junction, there is a Big Cat reserve just before Cave Junction. They boast about a very large collection of big cats. Unfortunately, they do not have a petting area. They do have tours and discuss the various cats. I much prefer holding and petting babies.
