cool. do you have pic of your elong that you can share?

also, how easy is it to get elong on dead food? I heard it only takes live in most cases?? could be wrong
it's been pretty easy to get smaller elongs on pellets and shrimp, they usually take to it pretty quick, but i have had some EXTREMELY stubborn larger elongs over the years

i'll see if i can dig up some pics... i have been so busy lately that i've barely had enough time for my hobbies, so the camera has been in the bag for awhile.

my elong is about 5- 5 1/2" and it eats shrimps/ tilapia and like it too but for a first two months, it barely ate anything besides live fish.

so how did you eventually get it on shrimp and tilapia?

I think it started eating after I moved it to a bigger tank. I dun exactly remember how I got it to eat the shrimps :D

what tank you have it in? got any pics??

if you like the current setup, go elong. They're pretty awesome.

:naughty: or...

you put the BLDR in the 75, and grow a mannie in the 180.

gibbus:
I personally think this is a geographic form of elong rather thana different species:

6.5" mannie:
They're so sensitive though he'd prolly need the 180g.

me personally, I think my next serra is gonna be a spilo, I just like em:

I would be interested in elong, mannie and gold spilo but don't want to get anything which may require upgrade few years down the road so mannie is out until I can get other 180g or larger..even I know they grow slow just like rhom. gold spilo is cool, I was thinking about it at one point but if I do get them I'll try to do a cohab in a large tank which leaves me with just elong. I'll see if I can get my hands on bm elong...if that's not available then maybe just a solo gold spilo ... but I'll try to find a bm elong first

sounds like a plan. that bm is nasty looking. i like the spotted ones with the red throats too. yeah i am seriously thinking of trying the mac/spilo serra breeding project when we move. I haven't heard back on those 3d tanks yet.

look at these macs: http://www.angelfire.com/biz/piranha038/serra_mac_geo.html
