Giving up on teacups (sigh)

The ones I had and the one in the shop were from the same batch . I may just try another from another shop just to prove I can . People want motoro and leo's but if I am honest I really like the rectics mostly . And the rectic motoro hybrids . I will try my best with this one with melafix but from past experience I don't hold much hope . Pointless doing a water change as amm = 0 nitrite = 0 nitrate = 10/15

have any pics? I've never seen one and im sure most of us here havent either.
 
i had the same issue...3 out of 4 retics died within a week...got 2 motoros from the same shipment and they're eating like a champ...my retics tail got cut off towards the end, no big deal but right after he stopped eating and died within a day...i'm definetly sticking with motoros from now on...i have no luck with retics
 
So there you go . As I predicted . Had to
fish it out this morning . No visible damage or irritation marks . Just the tail tip issue .
No more rectics for me , going to buy a motoro later to try and cheer myself up .
 
I don't think it gets advised as a beginners ray .

I just think it's too easy to be a beginner and choose your first ray by the attractive price tag ,not realising the efforts it takes to keep one of these alive . Only now I look into stingray thread history to find rectics/ teacups seem to give people more grief than any other ray ,
 
Bad luck bro. Top marks for persistance though.

It was the other way round for me. My first motoro died after a week. My retic was healthy as ever. Grew from 4 to 8 inch before I sold it.

yeah I sold a LOT of dats to fund my ray killing lol .
Oh well . I even took my water to be tested by 2 places today as I was getting paranoid . One place said most people wish for water like mine ,
I will pick up a motoro tomorrow and try and find myself a ready grown rectic I think

Shame that. You had a nice shoal of silvers.
I certainly don't doubt your ability to keep water params Tip top.

Just sounds like a bad batch. Anyhow the new motoro will have a nice size tank to settle in. :D
