GIZMO THE FAHAKA 3 MONTHS LATER!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wyld ...one question i do have is, do fahakas colour improve as they get larger?....Also i notice his colour pertrudes tramendously when i feed him and dies down alittle later, is this normal, should the colours always be really bright?

Mine improved quite a bit over a few days, but he also went from a LFS to my home. His colors do vary though from day to day, and from feeding to feeding. Mine has never achieved the BRIGHT red that I see on many larger fahakas. Only time will tell.

well i have to take a risk...i just put in 4 smalll chinese algea eaters and and a baby royal pleco cross your fingers cuz i sure am....My algea problem is simply getting way to big to not have some cleaners in there

I'd pull the royal, or throw about 5 lbs/gallon of wood that is very holy in there (and then pray for his survival :D). He will eventually become food. My common has no tail because he tries to hide, but leaves his tail exposed. I do have 2 arulius barbs in the tank with him that he won't bother. I also have 2 male cons, but they tend to attract his attention.

4 CAEs? they are very territorail as adults, and get to a foot long each, plus chances are good your fahaka would beat the living crap out of them. I agree, a shame to waste a royal like that. I would return them all.

IME they lose the red when they get bigger. The yellow on the belly gets better and better and the striping gets more defined.

Looking good!

if you're having algae problems ever thought about using a uv steriliser?
or an algae scraper? I don't think he'd need a setilizer.

Sterilizer would be good for keeping others away from a sensitive fish though. Fahakas will pull ich if you look at them funny. :D
