you can buy the black plastic ones at www.glasscages.com if you want those instead i had to buy a replacement one for my 240 and they have or will make what ever you want if you want those but the wood will look way better any ways'

well one thing i can say is that there is a bare minimum thickness for saftey and this is it, any thinner and there hould be no chance in hell. if it was my tank i would go overboard and use 3/4 and gu up another 4-6", I go overboard on everything that i build but its also me belife that a well supported tank made from the 1/4 will also hold, i also had resercations about this thickness esp. since i herd that turtles where going into it and i here that they have a habbit of comming up to the glass and ramming in quick bursts, but zach assured me that that is not usual behavior and his turtels are only about a inch, Like i said before i would fill it half way to 3/4 the way up and build a half terrarium and half aquarium that way they can clime up onto lad if they like, and maybe keep some slalamanders or a tree frog or something. but filled allthe way up why is it that you guys think that the tank will fail?, better jet where where you when he was asking this question 2 weeks ago? Its easy to critisize and bash someone after the fact but to help is just out of the question to some people isnt it?, lets try not being so negitive and make the poor guy scared for gowd sakes, He seems more then capable to put together a tank dont you think?

I had a pond turtle, it never 'rammed' the glass, just put its face up to it and scratched around. i dont recall the thickness of the glass but yours should be fine.
The pond turtle, however did kill my fire newts and california newts.
Cant wait to see it full! good job

Man, the keyboard warriors around here have made some WICKED tanks!

I think it looks awesome. I had a 300 with 1/4 tempered glass that took me 2 throws of a rock to break when we retired it. I'm ready to see the test fill. Good job man!

What's happening with this tank?
Did he fill it and it broke because of the skinny glass...?!!
Hope not....post some pics already!

haha tank fill is complete i filled it to the brim at 11 am and its now 11 pm and it still has the same amount of water with no leaks or any bowing wuts so ever here the pics i also posted a pic to show how thick the glass is and some of the turtles.

I bet your glad that you went with the 5 braces and not one or two..., i would still fill it 3/4 of the way up and make it a paluariume, make a nuce landing for the turtles to climb up on to bask and rest...
