Glasscages = Rude

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
With the 2 two examples I have seen, all I can say is that All-Glass, Perfecto, and Oceanic are light years ahead of them as far a quality.

problem is, there are enough people out there that just want the cheapest possible tank that holds water and they don't care if the silicone work is sloppy or the trim crappy.

If I could get a 500 gallon that was safe but had some extra silicone or a well siliconed 240 for the same price, I would buy the 500.

As far as the telephone skills go, I could care less about talking with them, I want them to accept my order, build me a tank, and let me get on with fishkeeping. I am not calling them to make a new friend.

And as has been stated, it is a tough economy, either a company makes it or fails. Only time will tell if cheap tanks outweigh bonding with the customer.

We should pick this thread up 2 years from now, if the GC is still selling tanks, you know that customer bonding is not a critical factor.

the problem is though, if you do a search on glass cages, it seems there are tons of people who have had issue that require customer service, and they were screwed over.

I guess they figure since they are so cheap, they don't have to have great customer service.

thats bad.

yes that is bad

the problem I have with sloppy silicone work is that sloppy silicone work means poor attention to detail and potentially ppor craftsmanship.

that sort of neglegence may lead to a leaking tank down the road.

and when dealing with huge volumes of water, that sort of lack of attention to detail could prove to work out very badly.

when you buy a big tank, you want it to last virtually indefinitely. if anything, huge tanks demand attention to detail when building them. they need to be built exactly right.

with a tank with sloppy seals, you just don't know. its a big chance to take to save a few bucks IMO.

there are quite a few experiences of people with failing glasscages tanks on the net. it doesn't take long to find them.

I feel terrible for people that run into that. its a fishkeepers worst nightmare..

You keep talking about failures.........post some links. Keep in mind they manufacture a bunch of tanks and I can find failures for most brands, but you seem to keep coming back to this.

LINKS?

All this talk about big tanks makes me want to go to www.glasscages.com and do some shopping.

Like I said before any publicity, good or bad, if it drives a consumer to a website, is a major plus for the business. The longer you keep this thread going the more exposure you give to the company you seem to be against.

Funny isn't it?

I found a some what local alternative to Glasscages. The prices are much lower as well. The only problem with the 300 is that it will take a month before it is delivered. The good news is that they will deliver it into my house. The stands are much higher quality/fancier than glass cages and are stained as well. Thanks for posting alternatives to glasscages. It all worked out in the end.
