Glasscages = Rude

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It is kind of funny. Even the positive reviews aren't that positive. You see alot about how they are rude and about the silicone etc. I think it boils down to they have descent prices, but you are dealing with a rural type mom and pop operation. Pop is probably doing something he enjoys, but doesn't want the aggravation part of dealing with people. He may not be a people person, but I'm sure that his tanks will do the job. I decided to go with another mom and pop type of operation somewhat locally, so I' may have the same issues with silicone etc. One good thing is that I have seen this guys quality, thats why I actually hunted them down. I'm not crazy about this company only having a 3 year warranty, but it is a bit better than a 3 month waranty.

true.

I am not against glasscages. I have never even seen one of their tanks in person (I did a lot of research on them before I found out they don't ship to canada though. before I did the research I was considering getting a tank from them)

but I do think it is unfair to our fellow hobbyists to be treated rudely or given tanks with sloppy work because that turns our fun hobby into a frustration.

Being rude, is a separate issue from the level of construction. My friend has 2 225s and a 300 from them and has had no problems with them. He suggested that I buy from them, but after the rudeness I received from the woman when I was calling to request a quote on multiple tanks I won't do business with them. Rude before the sale is a clear indication of what you can expect during and after the sale. I wouldn't want to imagine what I'd have to deal with if I had a problem with a tank.

.
This is the way I felt. I just purchased my tank from another vendor for this same reason. I don't want to rain on anyones parade that has a glasscages tank. I'm sure their quality is ok for the price. If you can get a monster tank for the same price from them that you can for smaller tanks elsewhere then so be it. I was just mentioning that glasscages is hella rude. Not wanting to bash others who have bad *** glasscages monster tanks.

people should only comment if they have glasscage tanks. so out of all the members here that have bought from them, only 2 tanks that have been confirmed defective. one of the tanks is a 800 gallon tank. it doesnt matter if the sales rep is rude, as long as he takes my oder and delivers my tank , thats all i care about. not trying to be friends, just buisness. dont keep calling them all day asking about theirtanks, go look on their website, and call only when you need to order the tank.if you want a tank in the 125-300 gallon range glasscages is your best bet.
the people on the internet that have broken glasscage tanks, somehow have the front glass or brace crack, now thats suspect. the glass on the tank dont just crack munless you hit it with something, water pressure will only make the seals break.

Guess nobody is perfect.............Tenecor......soUnds like their service may be subpar, and the salesman not soo great. What can you do?

"Tenecor put 1" drains in my 360 even though I told him I wanted bigger. They sent all the parts and jigs to have it fixed then the guy called to drill it and he said he didnt want to do the job. Tenecor has yet to fix it over a year after the screw up. They also sent the wrong size pumps that overheat and said oops with no replacement!

Dont use Brian as your sales guy if you go with Tenecor"

"I also have a tank on order from Tenecor, with Brian Harnish as my sales guy. I have to say there have been a LOT of delays with getting my stuff shipped to me. I just hope that when stuff gets here it will all be according to specifications. "

"I ordered two Tenecor tanks......120x48x30 and 120x42x30.....
It took six months to get here(many excuses) and when they finally arrived
the bottoms were scratched up due to poor crating and poor trucking company.
First I was going to send them back but then decided the gravel would cover the
bottom of the tank so I will keep them.(i did not want to wait another year.)
Also I am still waiting for the durso pipe and other items.
The lids were going to be the same thickness as the tank but instead
were 1/4 inch thick only......what do they think I am putting in tanks this
big? GUPPYS????
There are other issues but bottom line is for what I payed ...this company is
very unproffesional!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I must take this opportunity..

I bought some acrylic sheets and a 90 gal from them. I can't say anything about the quality/build of their aquariums, but I had a total nightmare in dealing with them service wise.

They literally screwed up every single aspect of the transaction they possibly could. The worst was the coordination of the delivery, I was suppose to meet them at a show at a hotel in the city. So I spent days before coordinating with a group of people to help me, a truck rental, and with glasscages. This entailed no less that 6 fone conversations the thursday and friday before this show. Well, they never mentioned that they were missing the smaller of the two sheets. So they brilliantly decided not to send anything, even though they had possesion of the 400lb piece that i was renting a truck for. So i'm there bright and early with a crew and a truck, they make me stand around for 30 min before they decided to even admit they never brought the pieces. The owner was there, Tom, and in his astounding logic, all he could keep repeating like a parrot was "Well, you never talked to me! ".

This was the worst thing and was icing on the cake after all the other screw ups, which were minor in comparison. They did at least "make up" for it by using their own truck to ship these pieces straight to my house. But then what they didn't tell me was that they told all the other customers in the area to meet the truck in front of my house and gave them my address and phone number. With out my approval of course. So there was a commotion in front of my house for most the day.

I wouldn't use them again if I had other options.

When someone is rude to you the very FIRST time you ever call them, it's a clear indication that THEY have a serious problem. You evidently don't have any idea about what people have actually had to deal with when trying to JUST as you say DO BUSINESS with them.

I know someone who owns 3 of their tanks, yet I don't because even with his recommendation, I'm not willing to do business with someone who treats me rudely from the get go.

You're probably too young to remember when the rule of thumb with sales people was "The customer is ALWAYS right." Sales people don't care about customers any more. They think that they can always get another one. I choose to prove them wrong and not give them my business.
