Glo bettas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not my taste, but to each their own. I don't really object to the glo-fish phenomenon, as it seems to have eliminated the "tattooed and dyed fish" craze of 15 years ago which to me was worse. Something like 80% of those fish died in the process (probably much more over the years than it took for them to get the glo-fish right) and the ones that did live went through a painful process, and were much weaker as a result.
But both of these processes killed a bunch of fish unnecessarily for aesthetic reasons. Not something I will be supporting.

The company is a bit crazy about their patients as well makes me want to stay away from them just for that reason.

They hit one of our local mom and pop style fish stores with a lawsuit because so danio's bred in the stores tanks. Made them destroy their entire glo section before they would drop it, not a company that cares about animals they sell or the people they sell them to.

These are not my cup of tea, but.....
This is not simple fish breeding.
This is advanced bioengineering, and gene manipulation that cost the biotech company millions to develop, and patent.
It is like any other bioengineered medical innovation, or App, or better(?) mousetrap (in simple terms).
It has been patented like any other invention, so one should expect it to be treated as such.

The ones at my lfs look super healthy. Like I said the red finned one looked cool. If I came across another after thinking about this for a few days I may be tempted. They flew off the shelves so I'm sure we will get more. $38 is steep though.

Pet Smart has a display set up with a sign coming soon. I am not interested in buying any but I am interested in checking them out.
